About VetAtHome
Emergency care without emergency fees.
At the emergency clinic at Djurkliniken Östermalm, we see dogs and cats that need prompt veterinary care for sudden illness or accidents. We offer urgent care with drop-in on weekdays 08-10 – you don't need an appointment and don't need to call ahead. After 10:00, please call us first so that we're ready to see you. With experienced staff and modern equipment, we start examination and treatment straight away.
Feel free to call on your way in, so we can prepare for your arrival and give advice in the meantime. If it's life-threatening – come in straight away.
At our emergency clinic you are met by experienced vets focused on rapid assessment and safe emergency care for dogs and cats. We offer emergency examinations, stabilisation and some treatments and procedures on the spot.
We are open during the day and in the evening, and on weekdays 08-10 we see emergency patients without an appointment. We don't offer overnight hospitalisation – animals that need intensive care or monitoring overnight are referred on to an animal hospital, with records and test results already in place.
At the emergency clinic, we carry out rapid diagnostics so that we can assess your pet's condition and start the right treatment as early as possible. When needed, we add blood tests, ultrasound, X-rays and other emergency diagnostics to the examination.
A thorough clinical examination helps us quickly assess how urgent the condition is and decide what treatment, stabilisation or further care is needed.
Examination of wounds. Cleaning, wound care and stitching of bite wounds, tears and cuts, usually under sedation or general anaesthesia on the same day.
Blood tests are an important part of emergency diagnostics and quickly give us information about organ function, blood status, fluid balance and any inflammation or infection.
Ultrasound and X-rays help us assess internal injuries, foreign objects, fluid in the abdomen, fractures and much more.
Many acute conditions need surgery on the same day. We have an operating theatre and experienced vets for emergency surgery on dogs and cats.
Emergency caesarean section when needed, so that we can quickly help both the mother and her young if there are complications during birth.
We assess and treat wounds, including cleaning, bandaging and surgery when needed.
Pyometra (inflammation of the uterus) is an acute and potentially life-threatening condition, mainly in female dogs, that requires prompt veterinary care and often surgery.
Before every anaesthetic we make an individual assessment and plan pain relief before, during and after the procedure.
We charge no emergency fee and no hidden extras – you pay the same price for the examination whether you come in on a drop-in basis or with a booked appointment. After the initial assessment, you will always get a quote before we go ahead with treatment. We bill all insurance companies directly and help with direct billing wherever possible.
Drop in on weekdays at 08-10, or call us during the rest of the day, if your pet:
Our vets have extensive experience of emergency care and follow clear routines to assess, stabilise and treat quickly. You will always get a clear explanation of the situation and the next steps.
An emergency visit is stressful for both pet and owner. We have separate waiting areas for dogs and cats, work calmly and make sure you know what is happening every step of the way.
Whether you've seen us at home or at the clinic before, we have your full history to hand when you come in as an emergency. If your pet needs care overnight, we refer you on with the records and test results ready, so no time is lost.
VetAtHome offers clinic visits, home visits and visits to our vet practices – what's best depends on your pet's needs and what's most convenient for you. We bill all insurance companies directly, which makes it easy to get help whatever insurance cover you have.
