Veterinary services
It is common for dogs and cats to injure their eyes. This can cause pain, and can lead to vision loss and other chronic problems if not treated in a timely manner. In addition to traumatic injuries, there are many different types of eye diseases that need proper diagnosis and treatment.
At our eye clinic, you will be met with cutting-edge expertise and genuine commitment from your veterinarian. We perform both medical eye examinations and official eye examinations, and combine solid experience in ophthalmology (the study of the eye and its diseases) with modern diagnostic equipment.
This allows us to detect changes at an early stage, make precise diagnoses and initiate the correct treatment, which is often crucial for the prognosis.
We have veterinarian Elin Reepalu, an authorized ophthalmologist, with bookable appointments for eye examinations. You can book an appointment for all types of acute and chronic eye problems, as well as eye examinations for dogs and cats.
Using a slit lamp (biomicroscope), we examine the front parts of the eye at high magnification, while an ophthalmoscope is used to inspect the lens, vitreous humor and retina in the back parts of the eye.
Measuring the pressure in the eye is a painless procedure that is absolutely necessary to detect or rule out glaucoma, a condition that can otherwise quickly lead to blindness.
By measuring natural tear production, we can determine whether the animal is suffering from "dry eye syndrome" (KCS), a chronic condition that, if left untreated, causes pain and damage to the cornea.
By applying a special fluorescent dye, we can visualize otherwise invisible injuries or wounds on the cornea, which require immediate treatment to prevent infection and deeper tissue damage.
It is common for dogs and cats to suffer from eye injuries or eye diseases. Without proper treatment in time, it can lead to pain, vision loss or chronic problems. Early assessment is therefore crucial for the prognosis.
You should always seek veterinary care if the eye is red, swollen, watery, changes color, or if your animal shows signs of pain – such as squinting. Suspected vision loss is also a reason to make an appointment.
Eye injuries can occur from external trauma to the head or eye, but many eye diseases occur without external influences. Some conditions can also be hereditary and require careful diagnosis.
Even a seemingly minor eye injury can get worse if not treated properly. To reduce the risk of permanent vision loss or blindness, it is important to always have a veterinarian examine any suspected eye problems.
Because eye problems can vary in complexity, from simple discoloration to
advanced pressure measurement and surgery, we always produce a clear cost estimate after
the initial survey. You are also welcome to contact
our support for a more specific price quote based on your animal's symptoms.
Eye problems can occur suddenly and be very painful. As some conditions can quickly worsen and in the worst case lead to blindness, you should always contact your veterinarian immediately if symptoms appear.
Our veterinarians have a passion for ophthalmology and extensive experience in investigating both congenital and acquired eye diseases. We ensure that you receive a clear explanation of the diagnosis and a concrete treatment plan.
We know that eye examinations can be uncomfortable for the animal. That's why we work at a leisurely pace and ensure that your animal has time to familiarize themselves with the room before we begin the examination.
Regardless of whether you have met with us at home or in the store, we have full control over your history when you visit our eye clinic. Through a common medical record system, we create a common thread in care that saves time and increases safety for both you and your animal.
VetAtHome offers both clinic visits, home visits and visits to our veterinary practices – what is best depends on your animal's needs and what feels most convenient for you. We work with all insurance companies, making it easy to get help regardless of your insurance coverage.
