At the emergency room at Djurkliniken Östermalm, we receive dogs and cats that need rapid veterinary care in the event of acute illnesses or accidents. With experienced staff and modern equipment, we can quickly begin examination and treatment.
We recommend that you call before arrival so that we can prepare to receive your animal. In case of life-threatening conditions, you should always go in immediately.

At our emergency clinic, you will be met by experienced veterinarians with a focus on rapid assessment and safe emergency care for dogs and cats. We offer emergency examinations, stabilization and certain treatments and measures directly on site.
The emergency department operates day and evening operations and is adapted for emergency care, but we do not have the ability to provide inpatient care overnight. If necessary, we will therefore help to transfer to the appropriate animal hospital for continued intensive care or monitoring.
At the emergency department, we perform rapid diagnostics to assess your animal's condition and begin the right treatment as early as possible. If necessary, we supplement the examination with blood tests, ultrasound, X-rays and other emergency diagnostics.
A thorough clinical examination helps us quickly assess the urgency of the condition and determine what treatment, stabilization, or further care is needed.
Examination of wounds. These may sometimes require surgical treatment to create the best possible conditions for healing and reduce the risk of infection or complications.
Blood tests are an important part of emergency diagnostics and help us quickly obtain information about organ function, blood status, fluid balance and possible inflammation or infection.
Ultrasound and X-rays help us quickly identify injuries and changes in the body's internal organs and are often used in cases such as trauma, abdominal pain, respiratory problems or lameness.
When medical treatment is not enough, we also offer surgical procedures. We have extensive experience in dental and soft tissue surgery, which includes:
Emergency caesarean section if necessary to quickly help both the bitch or female and the puppies in case of birth complications.
We assist with the assessment and treatment of wounds, including cleaning, bandaging and surgical intervention if necessary.
Uterine inflammation is an acute and potentially life-threatening condition that requires prompt veterinary care and often surgical treatment.
