• If they swallow a foreign object that can get stuck in the gastrointestinal tract.
• Inflammation of the pancreas.
• Sudden changes in feed.
• Side effects of medication.
• Inflammatory bowel disease.
• Stress, especially in cats.

When should you see a veterinarian:

• Your pet is showing signs of abdominal pain.
• The animal is very lethargic and tired or refuses to eat.
• The dog or cat is vomiting intensely.
• The animal may have eaten something poisonous.
• The animal has eaten a foreign object that may be stuck in the intestine.
• Vomit contains blood or the stool is bloody.
• The animal is tired and affected or has a fever.
• Puppies/kittens and small dogs experience rapid drops in blood sugar when they do not eat and therefore need special attention.
• Animals with underlying diseases, such as kidney and liver diseases.
