Welcome to our dermatology clinic at Djurkliniken Östermalm! Here we investigate and treat skin problems in dogs and cats, from itching and ear problems to more complex conditions such as allergies, infections, parasites and immunological diseases that affect the skin, fur and claws. Our goal is to find the cause behind the symptoms and create a long-term, individualized treatment plan for the best possible quality of life.
At our dermatology clinic, you will be met with high competence and a genuine commitment to your pet's skin health. We combine solid experience in dermatology with modern diagnostic methods. This allows us to identify underlying causes, make correct diagnoses and initiate the right treatment at an early stage, which is often crucial for a good and long-term result.
Each visit begins with a thorough review of the animal's medical history followed by a clinical examination where we use several specialized techniques:
Using skin examination under magnification, cytology and tape or impression tests, we can analyze the skin's cells, bacteria and yeasts directly under a microscope. If necessary, we supplement with cultures, skin scrapings and biopsies to gain a deeper understanding of the skin's condition and be able to make a reliable diagnosis.
Taking samples from the skin, such as cytology or skin scrapings, are usually simple and gentle procedures that provide valuable information. These examinations are crucial for detecting or ruling out, for example, infections, parasites and other underlying causes of skin problems, enabling the correct treatment in a timely manner.
If necessary, we supplement with diagnostics such as blood tests, allergy tests and hormonal analyses. This is especially important for more complex or chronic skin problems where underlying diseases may play a role, so that we can make the correct diagnosis and initiate effective treatment.
An elimination diet can be an important part of the investigation when a food-related allergy is suspected. By providing a strict, carefully selected diet for a period of time, we can assess whether the symptoms are linked to the food and thereby make a more certain diagnosis.
We work together with you as the pet owner to investigate the cause of the problems and develop an individually tailored treatment plan that suits both your animal and your everyday life.

Skin problems can occur suddenly and cause significant discomfort. Because some conditions can quickly worsen and lead to infections or chronic problems, it is important to contact your veterinarian early if symptoms appear.
Our veterinarians have a strong commitment to skin diseases and extensive experience in investigating both acute and chronic skin problems in dogs and cats. We ensure that you receive a clear explanation of the diagnosis and a concrete treatment plan.
We know that skin conditions can be both uncomfortable and stressful for the animal. That's why we work at a calm pace and create a safe environment where your animal has time to relax before the examination begins.
Regardless of whether you have previously met with us at home or at a veterinary clinic, we have a full overview of your animal's history when you visit our dermatology clinic. Through our shared medical record system, we create continuity in care - which saves time and increases safety for both you and your animal.
VetAtHome offers both clinic visits, home visits and visits to our veterinary practices – what is best depends on your animal's needs and what feels most convenient for you. We work with all insurance companies, making it easy to get help regardless of your insurance coverage.
