Here we have collected our best tips on how to protect your animal effectively and what to do if you find a tick.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-forebyggande-skydd-din-forsta-forsvarslinje\">Preventive protection \u2013 your first line of defense<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The most effective way to avoid tick-borne diseases is to prevent the tick from biting or staying in for long. Today, there is a wide range of products available, and the choice often depends on your pet&#039;s lifestyle:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Chewable tablets:<\/strong> Provides systemic protection that causes the tick to die shortly after it bites.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Spot-on (drops):<\/strong> Apply directly to the skin on the neck and spread over the body.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Necklace:<\/strong> Provides long-lasting protection (often the entire season) by continuously releasing active ingredients.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"p-rc_00dfb45d509ad53a-70\">Since some animals may be sensitive to specific substances, it is always wise to consult a veterinarian to find the safest and best protection for your particular friend.<sup><\/sup><sup><\/sup><sup><\/sup><sup><\/sup>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-gor-en-daglig-fastingkoll\">Do a daily tick check<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Even if your pet has tick medicine, you should make it a habit to check their fur after every walk or when your outdoor cat comes in. The sooner a tick is removed, the less likely it is to spread the infection. Ticks prefer warm areas where the skin is thin. Be extra careful when:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>The head:<\/strong> Especially around the nose, eyes and behind the ears.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Soft parts:<\/strong> In the armpits, groin and on the stomach.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>The paws:<\/strong> Between the toes and in the folds of the foot pads.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-sa-tar-du-bort-en-fasting-pa-ratt-satt\">How to remove a tick the right way<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>If you find a tick that has bitten you, it&#039;s important not to panic. Follow these steps for safe removal:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"1\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Use the right tools:<\/strong> A tick remover or fine-tipped tweezers are best. Avoid using your fingers as you can easily squeeze the tick&#039;s body, which can push infectious agents into the animal.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"1\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Grip low:<\/strong> Place the picker as close to the animal&#039;s skin as possible, under the tick&#039;s body.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"1\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Pull in a controlled manner:<\/strong> Pull straight out with even, firm pressure. Avoid twisting or tugging, as this increases the risk of the mouthparts remaining in the skin and causing a small local inflammation.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"1\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Aftercare:<\/strong> Wash the bite site with water and mild soap or some wound cleanser.
